Adding Mojeek Cookieless to Your Browser
Cookieless is an optional way of preserving your settings on Mojeek without storing a cookie in your browser. This can be useful for individuals who regularly clear their browser cookies, as you instead build a URL which informs Mojeek of the way in which you want it to behave. One thing which can be confusing to some is how you use this URL in the process of adding Mojeek to your browser. This page serves to explain how you can add Mojeek to both mobile and desktop browsers using this Cookieless URL.
Creating the URL
First you need to head to Preferences and create a URL that contains within it all of your preferred Mojeek settings. This is as simple as scrolling through the four tabs and selecting your options. Once completed you should see that the Cookieless box has built a URL which has all of your settings preserved as URL parameters, such as: https://www.mojeek.com/?autocomp=0&theme=dark&hp=minimal

The easiest way to turn this into a URL which is ready for the next step, adding it to your browser, is to paste it into your browser and then perform a single-word search such as ‘query’. On the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) you then copy the resulting URL and replace the single-word search in the URL with ‘%s’. Searching for ‘query’ with our Cookieless URL above would look like this in the browser: https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=query&theme=dark&autocomp=0&hp=minimal
, and would become https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=%s&theme=dark&autocomp=0&hp=minimal
when you swap out the query for %s. This percentage symbol and s combination shows your browser where to put search terms when using your chosen default search or quick search engines.
Mobile
Check our Mobile Support pages; if the method for adding Mojeek to your browser involves a step where you have to input a https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=%s
URL, change this out for your Cookieless URL. You should find that triggering a search in your browser now takes you to a SERP with all of your chosen settings. If the method for adding Mojeek involves performing a search and then selecting it from the Recently Visited, such as in Brave or Chrome on Android, there is unfortunately currently no way to add a Cookieless version of Mojeek to these browsers. Consider changing your settings instead through a cookie, or change your browser to something which allows the addition of search engines through the input method.
Desktop
Check our Desktop Support pages; for the browsers which already have Mojeek as an option and are Gecko-based (Mullvad, LibreWolf, Waterfox,) you need to follow these steps:
- Copy-and-paste
about:preferences#search
into the address bar, and hit the Enter / Return key on your keyboard. - Scroll down to the Search Shortcuts box and click Add
- Enter the following details:
- Search engine name: Mojeek
- Engine URL, use %s in place of the search term: [your Cookieless %s URL]
- Alias: [the letters you want to use to trigger this search engine in your search bar]

After pressing Add Engine you should now have a Cookieless Mojeek search URL available.
For all others, follow the standard steps but use your Cookieless %s URL in place of https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=%s
